RESOLUTION

Of the Annual Meeting of the PA Conference of Teamsters, June 2005
Resolution in Support of Funding for Penn State HersheyMedical Center
Children’s Hospital and Cancer Treatment Center
Whereas, The Penn State Hershey Medical Center has
expansion plans for the addition of a Children’s Hospital
and Cancer Treatment Center and,
Whereas, Ten million dollars has previously been approved and set a
side in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s budget for support
of the start of the expansion and,
Whereas, The citizens of Central Pennsylvania, and more
importantly, children in the region, would directly benefit
from such an expansion of specialized medical services and,
Whereas, Teamsters members would benefit directly
through a project labor agreement for the construction of
the new facilities and,
Whereas, The Hershey Medical Center is already under a
Teamster collective bargaining agreement and the
expansion of medical services would create hundreds of
additional job opportunities for Teamster members,
Therefore be it resolved that the Pennsylvania Conference
of Teamsters calls on Governor Rendell and the state
legislature to release the funds for the start of this
important project so that construction can begin as soon
as possible

and be it also resolved that the Pennsylvania
Conference of Teamsters supports further funding by the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in order to see this project
through to completion.
