Message from the President:
Summer is in full swing. We’ve already held the Local Union picnic and over 1,500 Teamsters and their family members enjoyed a great day out. Many thanks to the Local Union staff, the Executive Board, and the Business Agents for all their hard work in preparing for the picnic and clean-up efforts afterwards. Annually this is our most popular event and if you’ve never attended you owe it to yourself to come out next year and check it out.
We’re looking ahead to a busy second half of the year. Contracts expiring between now and the end of this year include: Domestic Linen, Middletown Borough, Paxtang Borough Police, Rabbit Transportation (Para Transit), Reading Township Police, Rye Township, Susquehanna Township School District & West York Borough Firefighters.
Contracts currently in negotiations status include our new units in Adams and Juniata Counties, York County Prison, Keebler/Kellogg’s & York Casket.
Local 776, in close cooperation with the IBT, is in the midst of a major organizing effort with UPS Freight in Mechanicsburg. We’re getting closer to a majority every day and look forward to bringing this important part of the freight industry under contract.
Changes of operations continue to be a major issue for our freight membership. Details can be found here at our website. Our freight members know this Local Union will ALWAYS fight to protect their interests in these changes come what may.
As your President and Principal Officer, I thank you for your support. That support is important in dealing with the employers and sends a clear message to those who would try to take us on: we're ACTIVE, we're UNITED, and we're STRONG.
